A Champion welcome

Champion are very pleased to welcome Sara & Phillipa Howe to the rider team for 2018.

Sara Howe is the proprietor of Bradbourne Carriage Driving Centre based in Sevenoaks Kent. The centre, which was established over 30 years ago, coaches people of all ages and abilities in the thrilling sport of carriage driving.

Sara is a UKCC Level 3 coach who is passionate about sharing her beloved sport with everyone. She spends much of her time teaching beginners to drive using her own ponies, as well as, training others with their own turnouts. She is currently both the Para-equestrian and Junior team trainer for team GB and will be taking these drivers abroad this season. She competes herself at National and International level, currently in the pony four in hand class, and has represented team GB at seven world championships- winning three bronze medals.

Sara is so pleased to receive sponsorship from Champion and Toggi with her new hats, body protectors and team clothing. As a coach, she feels it is imperative that she continues to be a good role-model by wearing and promoting top quality protective safety wear when she is coaching and competing. This season is a part of a two year selection cycle for Sara who aims to be part of team GB at the pony world championships in 2019. .

Phillipa Howe

Phillipa Howe is a 29 year old single pony driver, competing at both international and national level. Phillipa, was born into carriage driving with two very successful parents- a father who rose to the top of the coaching world and a multiple medal winning mother. As a junior driver, Phillipa was very talented, winning the Indoor National Supreme Championships on two separate occasions.

Her best achievement to date is winning the National Carriage Driving Championships in September 2017. Phillipa’s pony Sox, is a 13 year old Welsh Sec C bay gelding known to many as a pocket rocket!! The two of them make a very strong team that really excel on the marathon phase of a driving competition. When travelling at high speeds through obstacles, it is very important to feel well protected and this year, being sponsored by one of the leading brands, they will head out to battle in safe hands.

Phillipa is one of our up and coming talents for the future and hopes to be selected for the world championships 2019 in Hungary and will start her campaign alongside her mother Sara this summer.
